Ashgate Hospice is an independent registered charity that provides specialist palliative care (care to relieve pain rather than cure) both in the Hospice and community settings, for adults in North Derbyshire. The needs of the patients, their families, friends and carers are fundamental to the philosophy of the Hospice.
Our aim is to enable people with palliative care requirements to have access to appropriate professional assistance and care and to help patients achieve the best possible quality of life in accordance with their wishes. We do not charge patients for the services we provide.
Ashgate Hospice has 24-hour medical availability, the medical team being led by two Consultants in Palliative Medicine and, with its full range of services provided by a multi-disciplinary team, is at the forefront of specialist palliative care provision. The team includes Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Lymphoedema Nurses, Family Support Services and Chaplains. The clinical team work together with a support team of Caterers, Stewards, Housekeepers, Drivers, Groundsmen, Administrative, Finance and Fundraising staff to provide the excellent, specialised care we are renowned for. Ashgate Hospice also provides education, training, support and advice in palliative care to health workers in the community.
It costs Ashgate Hospice over £4 million each year to provide these valuable services, of which £2.5 million needs to be raised purely through voluntary contributions and fundraising.
Without your help, Ashgate Hospice would simply not be able to continue providing its vital services to local people.
